The International Youth Theatre Festival in German Language

The International Youth Theatre Festival in German Language has reached its 18th edition, and this year will be held from the 26th of April -1st of May 2017.
The festival has been organized since the year 2000 by the “Nikolaus Lenau” Theoretical Highschool in collaboration with the German State Theatre Timisoara (GSTT), its aim being that of consolidating the status of German language within the region, educating through theatrical arts, promoting intercultural communication as well as encouraging artistic debut.
This year there will be German expression theatre groups participating from Croatia, Serbia, Ukraine, Hungary and Romania, bringing with them over 120 youths of diverse nationalities.
The program includes theatre performances as well as specialized workshops held by actors and theatre pedagogues from Germany and Romania.
GSTT actress Isa Berger, who is among the festivals organizers, declared on this occasion: “The 18th edition brings with it boundless creativity and good energy. I feel fortunate to be close to these talented youths that share such a beautiful passion: theatre in the German language. I am incredibly glad that we get reunite this year as well and learn from each other. To me this festival means love for theatre and a beautiful return to the high school years, where it all began.”
The shows will take place in the Lira Hall of the House of Culture of the Timisoara Municipality and in the German Theatre Hall. The schedule is attached. Entrance is free, within the limit of the available seats.
