The Clown

The Bear, by A. P. Chekov
A young widow, an angry creditor and a cowardly butler – these are the protagonists of a surprising comedy. Popova, the young widow with sly eyes and dimples, is devoted to her bereavement until one day when an angry creditor comes into her house to redeem a debt. He cannot be persuaded otherwise, not even by the widow’s feminine sensibility. Therefore, she challenges him to a duel.

Sleepover
Sleepover is a collective concept in which three teenagers at a slumber party open themselves to the audience, recollecting how they lived through the last months of the pandemic, sharing their moments of joy, sadness and their ideals to come.

Karla and Charlotte, by Claudia Kumpfe
A story about two young women who have a low self-esteem. Karla is totally subdued by her mother’s personality, and Charlotte dislikes her more robust stature because of Paul, her boyfriend, who likes, it would seem, thin women. There is an internal struggle in the minds and souls of the two girls. But life teaches the both that they have strong personalities and they can overcome any issue. And, the strongest of them all is their friendship.

A performance by the Austrian Cultural Center, in partnership with the German State Theater Timișoara
Written and performed by Robert Prosser (text and voice), and Lan Sticker (percussion)
With a special appearance from TGST actors: Olga Török and Richard Hladik. Based on the novel Gemma Habibi (Ullstein, 2019), Robert Prosser, alongside percussionist Lan Sticker, creates a performance which brings together rap music and martial arts.

The rhythm varies from jazz to much truculent ones, the story is compelling and a relevant depiction of our world today: devastating war in Syria, refugees flooding to Europe, social revolts. All these come together to impact Lorenz`s life, who is training for a championship. His friend Zain, the Kurdish refugee from Vienna, who everyone calls Z. dreams of a success which will make him a boxing star.


The public should expect an unusual connection between literature and music, which are bounded by breathing and language, rap and song, the percussion being well rounded, without fear of improvisation. A strong, powerful performance about obsession, friendship, loyalty, new beginnings and the intense feelings a fighter experiences in the boxing ring.

The story is set a few months before the end of World War II inside a German concentration camp located in occupied Poland. The Camp commander wants to set an example pertaining to his own view of a society without ethics, in which the feeling of guilt becomes obsolete. As such, he uses the play Oedipus Rex, by Sophocles, which is orders be played out, but not merely as a performance, but as part of the convicts every day lives. Commander Kurt, the image of a murderous regime, inhuman and cynical, takes the role of the ancient gods. One Jewish prisoner, a friend of the commander when they were both young, is forced to murder his father and leave pregnant his own mother.
